How Do We Show Our Love?--Thomas S. Monson
We have a responsibility to prove to our Heavenly Father, by the things we do, that we love Him. This article was really great--he spent most of it sharing stories from his life about this subject. They were all very heart-warming.
When we serve our God, when we love Him, He knows it, and He will take us by the hand and give us answers to our prayers. :)
Occasionally, the reward for that service will be prompt, and we’ll see the light in the eyes of the person whom we have helped. Other times, however, the Lord will let us wait a little while and let our reward come another way. This is important to remember. The motivation for serving others can't be validation from that person. It has to just be because we love them.
Of all the blessings I have had in my life, one of the sweetest is that feeling the Lord provides when I know that He has answered the prayer of another person through me. This is really true.
And the Greatest of These is Love--Gordon B. Hinckley
Love is the only force that can erase the differences between people, that can bridge chasms of bitterness. This is why it so important to have charity for everyone!
As we look with love and gratitude to God, as we serve him with an eye single to his glory, there goes from us the darkness of sin, the darkness of selfishness, the darkness of pride. This really fits in with everything I've read so far in this scripture study. As we love God and serve Him, we become less selfish and less prideful.
